Protection
At TacEquip, we prioritize your safety. Our products are equipped with the same advanced protective plating, providing consistent, reliable protection across our entire range. This simplifies your purchase decision, knowing that every item upholds the same rigorous safety criteria.
Our products have been rigorously tested and certified by our trusted manufacturing partners to meet at minimum NIJ 0115.00 Threat Level One certification.
The NIJ (National Institute of Justice) Standard 0115.00 Threat Level 1 is a benchmark set by the U.S. Department of Justice for testing the resistance of body armour to stab and spike threats. This standard is recognized worldwide and guarantees that our protective equipment provides adequate protection against low to medium-energy threats typically encountered in correctional environments.

NIJ Standard – 0115.00 Protection level 1
TacEquip products meet the NIJ Standard – 0115.00 for Stab Resistance of Personal Body Armor, independently tested and certified by accredited laboratories.
Testing process
NIJ Standard – 0115.00 Protection level 1 is a test against tested against energy threats (E1) with a strike energy of 24 J. The overtest condition for this level is 36 J.
At this level, a maximum blade or spike penetration of 7 mm is allowable. The penetration limit was determined through research indicating that internal injuries to organs would be extremely unlikely at 7 mm (0.28 in) of penetration.
The test protocol then requires an overtest condition where the knife blade or spike kinetic energy is increased by 50 %. At this higher energy condition, called “E2,” a maximum blade or spike penetration of 20 mm is allowable.
This overtest is required to ensure that there is an adequate margin of safety in the armour design.
Protection at this level is offered via Front/Side and back removable protective panels.
Test results
The stab-proof material was testing according to NIJ 0115.00 Level 1 and client requirements. Under normal temperature conditions and humidity, the sample was subjected four fair strikes and blade penetration depth is 9.5mm at E2 strike energy.

Ethical Standards
At TacEquip, we pride ourselves on delivering top-quality tactical equipment to our customers across Australia. But our commitment goes beyond just product excellence—it extends to ensuring that every piece of gear we offer is produced ethically and responsibly. That’s why we partner with manufacturers who comply with rigorous international standards for labor, safety, and environmental practices. In this post, we’ll explore how our manufacturing partners align with globally recognized frameworks, ensuring that your gear is made with integrity.
Partnering with Ethical Manufacturers
When selecting manufacturing partners, we prioritise those who demonstrate a strong commitment to ethical production. This means adhering to frameworks like the amfori Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) and the Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA). These standards are designed to promote fair labor practices, safe working conditions, and sustainable operations—values that align with TacEquip’s mission to support both our customers and the global community. By working with compliant manufacturers, we guarantee that your tactical equipment is not only high-performing but also ethically sourced.
What Compliance Means for Our Partners
The AMFORI BSCI and SMETA frameworks set a high bar for social and ethical performance. Here’s what compliance looks like in practice:
- Fair Labor Practices: Our partners ensure workers receive fair wages, along with reasonable working hours and access to grievance mechanisms. This creates a respectful and supportive workplace for the people crafting your gear.
- Safe and Hygienic Conditions: Audits confirm that manufacturing facilities maintain safe environments, with proper risk assessments, safety equipment, and training to minimise hazards. From cutting-edge machinery to emergency protocols, worker safety is a top priority.
- Environmental Responsibility: Sustainability is key. Our partners implement systems to reduce waste, manage resources efficiently, and comply with local environmental regulations, contributing to a greener supply chain.
- Transparency and Accountability: Regular monitoring and corrective action plans ensure continuous improvement, addressing any gaps swiftly and effectively.
These standards aren’t just checkboxes—they’re a commitment to doing business the right way, and our partners rise to the challenge.
Why Ethical Manufacturing Matters to You
When you choose TacEquip, you’re not just investing in durable, reliable tactical gear—you’re supporting a supply chain that values people and the planet. Ethical manufacturing ensures that the workers behind your equipment are treated fairly, reducing the risk of exploitation and fostering sustainable communities. Plus, it aligns with the growing demand for transparency in how products are made, giving you peace of mind with every purchase.
For Australian businesses, law enforcement, and outdoor enthusiasts, this means you can trust that your gear meets both performance and ethical benchmarks. Whether it’s a tactical vest, backpack, or uniform, every item reflects our dedication to quality and responsibility.
Continuous Improvement in Action
Compliance isn’t a one-time achievement—it’s an ongoing process. Our manufacturing partners participate in periodic audits, typically conducted semi-annually or annually, to maintain their standards.
For example, recent audits have shown our partners excelling in areas like worker involvement, freedom of association, and environmental protection, while quickly resolving minor issues like updating safety signage or enhancing recruitment policies. This dedication to continuous improvement strengthens our confidence in their operations—and in the products we deliver to you.
TacEquip’s Commitment to You
